As a baseball blogger, I'm so glad you enjoyed your first game! I once took a British colleague to his first baseball game, and I had a wonderful time introducing him to the sport. Hope you'll watch more!
I'm trying to understand why people like Peter Thiel seem to think monarchy is needed in America. Other than just so they can get richer. I think it's because they believe that only state power can overcome C21st challenges at the necessary scale. But that states are paralysed by democracy. If they are correct then we are heading towards neofeudalism.
i think a load of people have this simple notion that a benevolent monarch is a safer bet than the outcomes of the democratic process.. Part of this ofc owes to the substandard procedural ways we've ordered our democracies.. Another part of it is this short-termist trade some people are willing to make on which they think it's worth sacrificing some political freedom for potential economic growth. Bad, wrong, risky, all round, on my view..
Definitely seen both in Europe (!) and in the States. USA seems to have an additional twist: west coast people tied up with techbros and their teleology; which always looks like a one way door to power.
